Vector Typhoon Review: 10kW Power, Extreme Range, and Rugged Durability

The Vector Typhoon is engineered for the rider who demands maximum electric performance and virtually limitless range in a robust, moto-styled frame. Sharing the high-voltage 72V architecture with its sibling, the Vortex, the Vector Typhoon is a performance workhorse, delivering over 10,000 Watts of peak power and industry-leading endurance.

In this review, we examine why the Typhoon, with its custom high-amperage controller and massive battery capacity, is a top contender for long-distance trail riding and high-speed off-road action.

Vector Typhoon

Uncompromising Power Delivery (10.000 Watt+)

The Typhoon’s performance specifications place it firmly in the category of electric motocrossers, not just beefed-up ebikes.

  • Motor System: The custom motor (50 mm Neodymium magnets, 16 poles) is paired with a potent Custom Kelly 7230s controller capable of handling 300 Amps. This combination ensures instantaneous torque and massive power reserves, reaching speeds beyond 80 km/h (50 mph).
  • Power Modes: Versatility is built-in with three programmable power modes (Rewerce, Eco, Boost), including a speed limitation for the Eco-mode (25 km/h for EU), allowing for easier compliance where required.

The Marathon Battery: 200 km+ Range

The defining characteristic of the Typhoon is its exceptional range, making it ideal for deep trail exploration and all-day riding without frequent stops.

  • Capacity: The optional high-density battery features a 3.8 kWh capacity (72V nominal), designed to sustain high-power draw and provide extended endurance.
  • Endurance: The claimed range of 200 km+ (120 mi+), based on an average speed of 35 km/h, sets a high benchmark in this class, offering true adventure capability.
  • Charge Time: Despite its capacity, the battery maintains a rapid charge time of just 120 minutes (2 hours).

Chassis, Suspension, and Control

Built on a high-strength frame (69 kg curb weight), the Typhoon requires heavy-duty components to manage its speed and payload.

  • Suspension: The front features a custom DNM USD8SA air fork with 200 mm travel, matched by a DNM Burner 2S rear shock (650/850 lbs spring) with 220 mm travel. This professional-grade setup ensures high performance and comfort on extreme terrain.
  • Braking System: Safety at high speeds is guaranteed by custom hydraulic Tektro Auriga brakes. Both front and rear wheels utilize dual 4-piston calipers biting down on large 203 mm rotors, providing dependable and powerful stopping force.

Verdict: The Endurance E-Moto

The Vector Typhoon is the choice for the rider who loves the high-power experience but refuses to be limited by range. It’s a true electric endurance bike, combining a powerful 10kW motor and 300A controller with a rugged chassis and a massive 3.8 kWh battery. If your priority is going faster and farther than the competition, the Typhoon delivers.

Author’s Take: A Decade of Evolution Behind the Vector Typhoon

The Vector Typhoon has been around for more than ten years. We created it back when the world had maybe five or six international companies building fast, exciting electric bikes and e-motos — and we were one of them. At that time the Stealth Bomber existed, yes, but it cost nearly twice as much and used a far more complicated technology stack, while still running a weaker motor with thin phase wires that struggled under heavy load.

We chose a different path entirely. We selected a motor platform that had double the tuning headroom of what we pushed into it from the factory. We equipped it with a 3.8 kWh battery, which at the time was either the largest or among the largest batteries available for any machine in its weight category. And while other brands chased exotic materials like carbon or Kevlar for their side panels, we made a very conscious decision not to. Side panels on this type of vehicle are consumable parts — they get scratched, hit, bent, replaced. Customers want them looking fresh. So instead of carbon, we went with Dübon: aluminum with a composite core inside. Lightweight, beautiful, strong, and practical. A material that makes sense in the real world, not just on a spec sheet.

But here is what truly makes the Typhoon unique:
It’s not a motorcycle. It is still a bicycle — legally and mechanically. It has fully functional pedals that can move the bike even with the motor turned off. There is also an ECO mode where only the pedals operate and the throttle is disabled, which keeps it 100% legal in the EU as a 25 km/h pedelec. You can ride it anywhere a normal bicycle is allowed. And then, when the terrain opens up and regulations are no longer a concern, you switch into OFFROAD mode and unleash the full 15 kW of power.

Choose a motor with 3T windings and you’ll see 110–115 km/h top speed without breaking a sweat. There’s also a Supermoto variant with 17-inch wheels, and on asphalt it’s simply phenomenal — almost completely silent. If not for the sound of the freewheel, you’d hear only the wind. I’ve had countless moments in the mountains where hikers were startled only when I was already passing them, because the bike is so quiet that they had no idea anything was approaching from behind.

If you want wheelies, you’ll love the Typhoon. The motor’s torque is so brutal that no matter which version you choose, the front wheel lifts instantly. In terms of real riding feel and capability, I still don’t see meaningful competitors for this machine, especially considering its price, its stealthy bicycle-like appearance, its silence, its incredible range, and its nearly maintenance-free design. No gearbox, no belts to shred, and even the chain almost never stretches because the motor is in the rear wheel — no drivetrain stress.

If you want a vehicle where “maintenance” means charge it and ride, then the Vector Typhoon is exactly the machine for you.
